Story
Professor Ian Taylor passed away in February 2021 at the age of 52. He was an esteemed scholar as well as a friend and mentor to many. Anyone who visited his office at the University of St Andrews could not fail to be impressed by his library of books. These were collected by Ian from across the world during his travels, and represent a unique collection. We aim to fulfil a promise to transfer his library to Africa; specifically to the Institute of Peace and Security Studies at Addis Ababa University, where he was a visiting professor. Ian would want his books to be used by the next generation of scholars of Africa, in Africa. We need to now fundraise to cover the costs of this transfer and to ensure that there are funds to pay for the proper curation of the books, so that they can be used by scholars for years to come. Your contribution is very much appreciated.

2 months agoLast month was the anniversary of Ian's death and we marked the day of his passing with a small ceremony at his grave in St Monans. Since the last update we have purchased a Radio-Frequency Identification system which will significantly boost the IPSS library’s security and circulation system. The next step is to finalise the shipping arrangements. We want to THANK YOU for your contribution to this project and to note that we have raised 40% of our total here and a similar figure offline. With best wishes and thanks again, Jo, Eric and Tim

5 months agoDear friend and colleague of Prof Ian Taylor, Wishing you all the best for 2022 and many thanks for your generous donation. Ian's brother Eric and myself packed up Ian's office just before Christmas. It was quite emotional but we had so many lovely reminders of Ian. Some of his colleagues helped too and it was so nice to talk with them about Ian. The total raised online stands at over £4,100 but we have had more offline donations. So we are well over half way there and confident we will reach our target. Thanks again and best wishes, Jo
