In loving memory of Ian Golightly
28/1/1963 - 14/5/2020
"What Will Survive Of Us Is Love"
This page has been set up in memory of our wonderful Ian. Having fought against Huntington's for many years, our dear friend sadly passed away after contracting covid-19.
Ian found comfort, companionship, friendship and ultimately, family, at the Neuro Dropin. His Mondays were spent whiling away the hours playing scrabble, eating cake and ice cream and generally getting up to as much mischief as he could get away with. He was lucky to have the centre: but not quite as lucky as the Neuro was to have him and have the privilege of calling him our own. It is no mean feat keeping such a charity running. It takes love, compassion and relentless determination. It takes the generosity of family, friends, and strangers. Ian would not have wanted flowers. Instead, we ask on his behalf for a donation (however small) from those who have the means, so that we may help keep the Neuro running for all of those who need it, both now and in the years to come.
Think of me as one at rest,
for me you should not weep
I have no pain no troubled thoughts
for I am just asleep
The living thinking me that was,
is now forever still
And life goes on without me now,
as time forever will.
If your heart is heavy now
because I've gone away
Dwell not long upon it friend
For none of us can stay
Those of you who liked me,
I sincerely thank you all
And those of you who loved me,
I thank you most of all.
And in my fleeting lifespan,
as time went rushing by
I found some time to hesitate,
to laugh, to love, to cry
Matters it now if time began
If time will ever cease?
I was here, I used it all,
and now I am at peace
Howay Lad. We love you and we always will.
