Story
I am running the Cardiff Half Marathon on October 7th to fundraise and help raise awareness for Pen Y Cwm School which is an SEN (Special Educational Needs) school who deal with a range of disabilities with great success on a daily basis and are very happy and willing to support any child that chooses to attend the school.
My sister (Cassi) was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 3 after many tests and appointments after speech and communication progression had halted and failed to progress. Cassi was firstly educated in an Autistic unit in a nearby school and is now educated in Pen Y Cwm and has done so for the last 2 years.
Enough can’t be said for the help and support all staff at the school have provided for Cassi and I’m sure the same can be said for anyone else attending the school. They really do help children who find education hard to progress at such a very fast rate. In Cassi’s case they have been exceptional in the development of her social communication skills which were quite poor when joining the school and have helped bring her out of her shell throughout her short time at the school already.
All funds raised will go direct to the school itself and will be spread evenly throughout the school to help everyone who attends get the specialist education and equipment they require.
