Story

Ifton Colliery Band is made up of a group of very talented individuals. Our musicians are from all walks of life and are extremely committed to their hobby, with the band regularly performing in concerts and competing in completions all over the UK and are the only locally competing brass band.

This year the bands success is continuing under the direction of our musical director (MD) Scott Lloyd. Scott became MD in 2016 and under his direction the band are seeing their most success in their 100 year history, having been newly promoted to the second section this year and 2019 will see them being promoted to the first section. The band are currently work hard to perfect their performance piece for the National Brass Band Championships, the band qualified for the finals at the first attempt of being in the second section. This is also a proud moment for the band as we are the only North Wales based band to be representing the area at the finals.

The band are keen to ensure that brass banding continues for future generations so in April 2017 formed a youth band The Iftonites with the aim of providing musical opportunities to local children. In addition to the youth band a free to access adult learners group was also formed to share this passion.

The band are currently raising funds to help support the provision of musical learning opportunities to local children, this is of vital importance since the announcement of reduction of funding to local schools. In addition to this we are also fundraising to support competing in the National Finals. We have set up a justgiving page so people that share our passion can donate to our organisation.
