Story
Many school children in remote parts of the Igbomina territory don't have proper facilities to prepare for their final Secondary School exams and, as a result, many fail and are not able to progress to further and higher education. These students are clever and hard-working but they need further coaching to realise their potential.
This pilot Summer School Project is designed to help final year school certificate students in Igbomina land, (Kwara state, Nigeria) to better prepare them for their exams and teach them studyskills during the summer vacation. This programme will complement the effort of the government in the education sector. We are starting with 3 centres and 200 students in each centre and if successful we will extend the programme to other centres.
We care so much about this project because some of us like myself grew up in this remote area many decades ago and we are sourcing funds to be able to put back the joy of proper and adequate education that we received from this community.
We are hoping to raise £2000 for the three pilot centres in 2017, this is less than £3.50 per child for 2 weeks.
