Story

International Hindu Youth Forum was founded by Mr Ganeshkumar around 6 years ago with the aim of supporting the young generation of Tamil Hindus in the UK by giving them a platform and a voice. As a youth led forum, we organise and get involved in a number of events throughout the year.

Annually we host two events, the Gaurava Vizha in May, and the Margazhi Utsavam in December. In the first event, we nominate three individuals who have provided a great service to our Tamil community. One of three guests is always a youth member who has shown remarkable charitable service or any other form of initiative. The Margazhi Utsavam is an event dedicated to Tamil, music, dance and drama. Students are given an opportunity to showcase their talents and encouraged by the UK Tamil audience. During these events, we hold a short ceremony to praise those who took part in our speech competition that we host earlier in the year.

Branches: Besides the UK, IHYF has successfully extended to Sri Lanka where the forum has began ventures including: providing sponsors to build family homes and cows for less able households, providing necessities for school children such as exercise books, school bags, providing bikes for those who travel far for schooling. The lastest event, held earlier this year, was a tremendous success attended by over 500 guests.

This year, the Margazhi Utsavam is taking place on the 15th of December at Ealing Amman Temple. There is going to a be a huge variety of music, dance and drama performances and attendance is free - so please do come along to enjoy the beauty of our culture and to support those who are involved.

The IHYF is proud to support aid projects and charity initiatives in Sri Lanka. In these pictures, you can see those who were affected by the flood receiving supplies and donations to assist in the aftermath of the disaster. Without the generosity of our donors we would not be able to make a difference to the lives of those who are in need so please do show your support at our events!

As we said earlier, this is free for all and a non-ticketed event. However, at the Utsavam, we are going to be relying on the generosity of those who come to fundraise for some projects we have planned. With these projects, we hope to make a positive impact on the community, so it would be wonderful to have your support.
