The clock strikes the hours with fine bravado, and the Dawn Chorus at 3.30am precisely is very fine! And yes - I do actually sleep a little, between the hours, and wake to another cold grey day with a sense of enormous triumph. Diana: But this year the challenge is that of sleeping on the cold, cold ground, while the sky darkens to gunmetal grey beyond the gates and the wind rustles the boughs of the churchyard trees. The point of all this, of course, is to raise funds for ILA, an organisation that campaigns for respect for human rights in Iran and the Middle East, and for the release of those imprisoned for their political or religious views, their gender or sexuality.
