Hi my name’s Ilaria, thanks for taking the time to read this :)

In the summer of 2019 I will be going on a once in a life time expedition to Costa Rica and Nicaragua to do some voluntary work organised by Camps International and my school, Windsor Girls' School.

On this 4 week trip our main aims are to help poorer areas of Costa Rica and Nicaragua and save endangered wildlife. Whilst in Central America, we will be:

- Working with local communities in rural districts to help raise their living standards

- Assisting with ongoing wildlife conservation programmes to preserve biodiversity.

- Teaching local children English and supporting them in their general education

As you can imagine, funding the trip will be a challenge! For me to be able to take part in this amazing expedition, I intend to raise £2000 to cover the costs (travel, accommodation, insurance, visas and special equipment for all the activities and voluntary work) .

In the months leading up to the trip I will be organising fundraising activities, sponsored events and sales to raise the money.

As an avid geographer, this expedition is very important to me, both personally in acquiring many vital life skills like leadership, communication, team-building and independence, but also by making a difference. Whilst I am really excited to interact with new cultures and languages, there's much to do and money to raise.
