Hello everyone,

Me and my family have had some devastating news about our loving brother. Whilst working and living in Belgium, my brother had an unfortunate accident at his home in Belgium where he slipped and fell down the stairs causing a major impact to his head. He is now in hospital fighting for his life. The doctors and nurses in Belgium are working very hard to keep my brother Grzegorz alive but the pressure in his head is so high that they are giving him extra medication to keep him asleep so that there is less activity in his brain whilst asleep.If they try and wake him up then the pressure in his head will go so high and lead him to the unfortunate. The doctor has already informed us that it’s likely he will never wake up and did consider stoping his treating but we was eager to fight for Grezegorz and get a second opinion which did go in our favour as the second opinion said “if the treatment has been started then this should follow through to the end”. The situation is so bad that even if Grzegorz wakes up his quality of life will be low, around 5 to 10 percent, chances of him walking again is unlikely. I am based in London and I went to go see my brother over the weekend by driving to Folkestone and taking the train to Calais and then driving to Belgium from there. My family are based in Poland and also drove to Belgium but unfortunately could not stay too long due to financial circumstances. We desperately want to be beside our brother as he has no one with him and simply can not afford to be in Belgium. The chance of him ever waking up is unlikely and it upsets me so much that me and my sisters/brothers cannot be beside our brother at this difficult time. Anything you can spare would be greatly appreciated and would mean a lot to me and my family. We just want to be beside our brother as the doctor has informed us that it is serious and now is the time for family to be with him. The money raised will go towards flights from poznan to Belgium for my family that are based in Poland. The funds will also help us towards accommodation in Belgium. We just want to be beside our brother. We would need to transport Grzegorz from Belgium to poznan providing that he will be in a stable condition to be able to transport him.

Grzegorz is based at Ziekenhuis Oost-Limburg A. V. hospital in Genk.The doctors and nurses looking after our brother is doing an amazing job and honestly can’t thank them enough for their dedication and support.
