In June 2017 I will be taking the opportunity visit Kenya with my college. We will be doing humanitarian work within the community, which includes building schools, classrooms and potentially huts that have been destroyed due to weather.
During my time in Kenya, we will be delivering sexual health and breast cancer awareness and lessons to school children and people in the villages close by. This is important to me as it will allow me to give people in a developing country access to the information that can be used to keep them safe and healthy.
Donations received will be spent on resources to bring to the villagers and will go towards costs to allow us to deliver these awareness campaigns. This will be a great opportunity to give awareness to the kinds of illnesses that may be predominate in a different part of the world.
I am excited to see firsthand how Kenya operates within their resource limitations, and gain knowledge as to the needs of its communities and how health awareness will benefit the developing country.
