Story

My name is Imahl Williamson I have been selected to represent Great Britain at the ISKA Amateur World Championships; this is a great achievement for me. I have been training with my Sensei’s Shabs, Mibs and Kevin at Physical Impact Kickboxing in Bradford since the age of 5 and I am now 16 years old. They have been incredible mentors and father figures for me throughout my life, very inspirational individuals on all levels. I attended the ISKA National trials on the 8th October 2017 and have been selected from hundreds of Martial Artists across Great Britain, I feel very privileged to be offered the chance to attend. The idea of becoming a national champion and qualifying for the world championships was a distant dream just a couple of years ago.

I have just completed my GCSEs this summer and my ambition, after a successful kickboxing career, is to become a pilot in the first instance, however, if that fails, my back up plan is to have a career in either environmental science or waste management. I will remain physically fit because it is the ethos that my mum has instilled in me since the day I can remember. When I become an adult, I would also like to give my skills back to the community as my Sensei’s did for me.

I am very athletic and currently due to pressures on my GCSE’s only participate in Kickboxing and Swimming for fitness. However, in the past, I represented West Yorkshire in Indoor Athletics when I was in primary school. I used to play football, however this clashed with Kickboxing and tournaments, so I had to make a decision as to which activity I would continue. I also played Wheelchair Basketball for Leeds Spiders but unfortunately due to my Mum’s work commitments, I could no longer continue with this activity. Wheelchair basketball is one of my activities that I would like to engage in again. It was an inspiration and pleasure to play with so many children and adults with disabilities.

The championships are being held in Montego Bay in Jamaica, from the 9th September – 16th September 2018. Unfortunately with Kickboxing being an amateur sport it is an individual’s responsibility to find their own funding to attend the tournament; therefore I am looking for sponsorship from local companies such as yourself.

As well as the obvious expense of travelling to Jamaica I must also cover my costs for the flight/hotel, the England Uniform and tournament fees for entry to the actual tournament the total of which is £1,375. Any help you could offer towards these costs would be greatly appreciated.

In return for your sponsorship I would of course be more than happy to wear your name / logo on my kit, and to list you as a main sponsor in any newspaper / media articles which result from the tournaments and the World Championships. We will be contacting local newspapers on return from Jamaica detailing how the British Team have performed at the tournament, hopefully displaying our trophies!

I do hope that this is something you might be willing to consider. If you would like to discuss this further you can contact me and I will be happy to talk further about the event after my exams please.

Thank you again for taking the time to consider my proposal, I hope you can appreciate the benefit of sponsoring me and helping me to represent my country.
