I've raised £300 to help fund my dissertation expedition to Madagascar with Operation Wallacea.

With 90% of its original forest cover gone, deforestation is providing huge environmental stresses on Madagascan biodiversity. I will be conducting my research in the deciduous dry forests of Northwestern Madagascar for 6 weeks in June 2018; this is one of the most threatened habitats on the island. Madagascar is home to 50% of all the species of chameleon in the world (with most of these being found nowhere else) and as such it is important to study these so that they can be conserved to the best of our ability. I will be researching niche partitioning in two endemic species of chameleon: The giant malagasy chameleon and the Angel’s chameleon. Hopefully this will provide some insight into how best to aid their survival.
