We are a school club that started two years ago. We have to build a R.O.V and go compete to get to the final where we have to represent our region (Scotland). It started with just three people but our numbers have grown to twelve. Last year was our first year competing so we were going in blind, sadly our R.O.V didn't work on the day of the competition and we had to go back to school and begin working on a new design, this year though it was our lucky day. Thanks to our pupils in the role of graphic designers who worked hard on our technical report we already felt like we had a good starting point for the day. After 2 fantastic performances in the pool we were sitting second highest points. everything now rested on our presentation and everyone had a role to play for that. We had to explain how the whole process of designing the ROV had gone and the we had to try and sell our idea to the judges as if we were a real company. At the end of the day we were all waiting to find out if our hard work had been enough. As they announced all of the prizes our name was not called until the safety and technical award which we won due to our humor and PPE, then the big prizes were announced, 3rd, not us, 2nd, not us again. Hopes were getting high. Finally the big prize, including a place in the World finals and transport for 6 team members, was announced as us!. This left us in a dilemma, only half the team would be able to go with funded places or we would try our utmost to raise the funds for the whole team to go to California. It is only fair that everyone gets to experience California but also see the R.O.V compete in the final. So this Crowdfunding would give everyone a chance to go as we need to fund raise the rest of the money before the competition or people would have to be left behind and we don't think that is fair.
