Story

Over summer holiday, my colleague and I were given a great opportunity to work with Mueang Chang Subdistrict Administration Organisation, which is a government organisation working for the local community.

We went to a local child care centre called 'Baan Mueang Chang'. There were 53 children aged 2-5 years old, meaning the centre had the students from nursery to kindergarten levels. It had 4 classrooms. There were 5 teachers, 1 cleaner and 1 cook.

We talked to the members of staff to find out what were the problems. After the talk, we thought the issue of toilets should be given priority. This is because the vulnerable children tended to slip or even have more serious accidents due to the use of adult squat toilets.

We later contacted bathroom specialists. We thought it would be nice if there were two kid's and one adult flush toilets. Besides, we will renovate the bathroom, install indoor plumbing water and sewage, and wastewater tank. The estimated cost for this project quoted by the specialists was 3,000 GBP.

We are really concerned about the accidents that frequently take place among the children and we do not want that to happen. Therefore, we would like to raise money for the child care centre.

We are aware that we alone will not be able to offer immediate help to the local children. However, with your kind help, we are certain that the toilet system at the centre can be improved.
