Story

Following the sudden death of Dogsthorpe single mum Lisa Haynes on January 10th, we are hoping to raise funds to help pay for her funeral.
Lisa died at home after suffering for the past 12 years with a serious lung and heart condition. Her body was discovered by her young son Leon.

Lisa had no living parents, or partner. 13-year-old Leon has now been taken in by his auntie Stacey, a single mum herself with two daughters. Stacey lives in a two-bed house which is not big enough now and the family will be forced to find a new home.

Besides coming to terms with the tragic death of her sister, Stacey is now facing the prospect of another mouth to feed on a single wage. While she wouldn’t have it any other way – Leon has been welcomed into the family with open arms – the sudden shock of this additional support need, together with trying to pay for a funeral (Lisa had no will, no life insurance and no savings) has left the family reeling both emotionally and on a financial level. Basically, they are running out of time to raise enough money to pay for Lisa’s funeral.

“Leon is a lovely boy and deserves a bright future after what has happened and we will ensure he gets just that,” explained Stacey. “But as a single parent, I am struggling to find enough money in time to pay for Lisa’s funeral. I’ve asked around and the cheapest funeral is £3,000 and we just don’t have that kind of money sitting around.”

With help from family and friends, Stacey has raised just over £1000 so far. She now needs to find enough to make it up to the £3000 before her sister’s funeral on February 6th.

Please, if you knew Lisa during her life and feel you want to help contribute towards her funeral cost, or you know Stacey and her own life story to date, then anything you can do to support financially would be amazing.

A massive thank you in advance if you can help.
