Story

I am going to be volunteering for four weeks in Indonesia taking part in a medical programme.

The total cost of the programme will cost approximately around £1500 and. I am trying to fund-raise to raise money to contribute to cover the costs for the trip and collect resources to take with me. I am so thankful for any donations. The money raised will go towards the costs of the trip and will allow us to spread my skills and make a change to the health care facilities within Indonesia.

Indonesia's health care system is failing to provide the most basic health care. Indonesia's health care systems is plagued by out-dated medical equipment, lack of qualified staff and hygiene failures. My aim as a second year student nurse is to go to Indonesia to spread my skills and knowledge from the UK and help make a difference.

This is a fantastic opportunity for myself as a student nurse to gain experience and an insight into the Indonesian health care system. Indonesia is a developing country to which I will be spending my time in low-resourced environments and will see the harsh reality of the pain, suffering and living conditions of individuals and their families. When I qualify I will be working for the NHS, meeting the high demands of patients needs and the healthcare services. My time spent in Indonesia will fully put into perspective as there are many individuals who cannot access or afford to pay for their healthcare.

I will have the opportunity to expand our knowledge within the following departments; general Surgery, Intensive-Care, Emergency, Maternity & Midwifery, Neonatal, Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Antenatal, Prenatal, Ultrasound, General Medicine, Out-Patient and Public Health.

I believe this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and will give myself the insight into different cultures and ways of life, as well as learning about a new health care system.

All donations are fabulous and I thank you in advance! xx
