Story

(Almost all the) Scottish media continuously fails to inform us, about the popularity of independence. On the rare occasion they commission a poll, there are actually three at once. Worse than the buses.

We want to commission an independence poll, on the back of the recent news that Scotland is, anti democractically, being denied the ability to hold an independence referendum. That might seem paradoxical but, politically, independence still matters. That should be quantified.

This is a proper poll we're after. We'll ask the standard question. The polling will be performed by Find Out Now, who are a British Polling Council (BPC) member. They will ask 1 000 demographically representative adults, who are resident in Scotland. The answer will also be rigourously adjusted for turnout, by Electoral Calculus.

The caveats are: (A) For budget reasons, we will ask people age 18+, not age 16+. (B) Because of the Supreme Court ruling, we'll need to add a preamable, or tweak, the ordinary indyref question. But we'll keep it as close as possible, for the sake of comparability.

On the off chance we exceed the fundraising goal, we'll commission more polls in the future.

Your money will go to Fetter Together Ltd, Scottish company number SC639512, with registered address 5 South Charlotte Street, Edinburgh, EH2 4AN. Fetter Together will then purchase the poll from the BPC member. This is a transparent arrangement, because this crowdfunded money won't be used by me personally. Obviously, Fetter Together as a limited company has to submit annual accounts (and previously has done so). So, this is all above board. Also, please see our Fundraising Privacy Policy.
