On the 23rd November 2016 my best friend of 12 years passed away due to cancer in the form of a brain tumour. He also had neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2) which is a less common type, affecting about 1 in 33,000 people. People with NF2 develop tumours on the nerves responsible for hearing and balance. These typically cause symptoms such as: gradual hearing loss, that usually gets worse over time; ringing or buzzing in the ears (tinnitus); balance problems, particularly when moving in the dark or walking on uneven ground; and tumours can also develop inside the brain or spinal cord, or the nerves to the arms and legs. This can cause symptoms such as weakness in the arms and legs, and persistent headaches.
Adam was a strong man who had a big heart, he was there for everyone no matter what he was going through. He was a clever and bright man who had his whole future ahead of him. Unfortunately no matter how hard Adam fought this was a battle he couldn't win, but he fought long and hard determined not to let this get him down. He was learning sign language to help him communicate since losing his hearing he found it difficult, and he leaves behind so many people who loved and cared for him. In memory of this brave man I want to raise some money on his behalf, whatever I get in donations I will split in half and give half of the money to 'The Brain Tumour' charity and the other half to the NF2 group called 'Can You Hear Us' (CYHU) in his memory as he was a part of that group and that group helped make him feel like himself and helped him deal with his NF2, which I want to thank them for.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, RIP.
