Story

On behalf of the CMWP of the EBMT, it is with great sadness to share that our friend and colleague Dr. Anna Waszczuk-Gajda M.D., Ph.D., aged 41,of Warsaw, Poland, passed away on July 13, 2022.

Anna was truly an excellent clinician, always very dedicated to the patients she was responsible for and remained a true advocate for excellence in all aspects of haemato-oncology and stem cell transplantation practice. We will miss her greatly and will strive to continue her work and spirit in all we do.

She is survived by her beloved son, Maksymilian (Max) pictured above alongside Anna, her husband and mother.

Maksymilian was born in December, 2007. He graduated from primary school as the best student in June 2022 and is planned to start education at the High School of Stanislaw Staszic in Warsaw, the best high school in Poland in September. Like his Mother, he is scientifically very productive and much involved in chemistry, in which he won three important Polish chemistry contests. He also won a national contest in English. Alongside his scientific involvement, he is also very devoted to table tennis, in which he also wins prizes. Maksymilian wants to follow his Mother and become a medical doctor one day.

In memory of Anna's everlasting legacy as a friend, colleague within our CMWP and dedicated haematologist please consider contributing if you can.
