On 6th September we lost our brilliant friend Greg Mellers, who died in a tragic accident in Berlin at the age of 29 alongside his long term boyfriend Aleix.

As Greg’s friends we have been left heartbroken by this loss and would like to honour him and his many achievements and accolades in whatever way we can.

Given Greg’s academic success at Cambridge with his BA, MSc and PhD in Botany/Plant Biology we would like to raise money to donate a memorial bench and plaque to the gardens of Holmfirth High School where Greg was Deputy Head Boy and where many of us were lucky enough to have met and grown up with him.

We’re hoping the bench will offer a quiet place of reflection and rest, and we hope his great legacy inspires any other budding scientists at the school.

He will be forever missed.
