PLEASE SEE UPDATE AT THE END OF THIS PAGE

Ron Jeffries (our father) passed away on the 15th of December 2020 at the age of 87. Dad's funeral will be held at 1.30 pm on Friday 5th February at St Peter's Aldborough Hatch and will be restricted in numbers due to Covid.

You can see a video of the Service on the St Peter's Aldborough Hatch facebook page. It was a really special day with over 20 at St Peter's and over 500 people joining us virtually.

The costs of the funeral have all been provided for.

Dad left us clear instructions that his funeral should be a 'jolly affair with lots of smiles and laughter'. His 'suggestions' included some rousing and reflective hymns, but of course he didn't foresee the restrictions caused by a National Lockdown. Therefore a full celebration, with the chance for us all to share our memories of Dad together, will be held in the Summer.

There will be family flowers only in the Church. However, if you would like to make a donantion in memory of Dad’s life we are proposing that any donations be shared equally between The Children's Society and St Peter's Aldborough Hatch. The Children’s Society - because Dad told us to and its work was so very dear to Dad and Mum. St Peters because this is where Dad and Mum met and where their faith was nurtured and grew over their lifetime.

We, as Dad’s children, will administer gifts made via this donantion site and ensure that every pound donated is split equally between the two beneficiaries. If you give permission for us to be notified of your contact details, we will confirm once this has happened and provide details of the Gift Aid options that are available to you. Just Giving will invite you to increase your gift to cover their administration costs - that is of course entirely voluntary (ie you don’t have to agree to that increase - you click ‘other’ if you don’t want to add to the donantion). We will then cover any deductions Just Giving may levy so that 100% of all that is donated is received by the Beneficiaries.

Just Giving also require us to include a target for the donations when setting up a page like this. It seems a little presumptuous to do so but we know how important St Peter's and The Children's Society were to both of our parents - so please forgive the target we have set for ourselves. We are though confident that we will exceed it!

There are many pictures we can share of Dad. He was always more comfortable taking photos rather than being their subject, but these pictures remind us of his humour, his determination to fight for what he believed in and that Dad's life would not have been nearly as full as it was without the support of Yvonne, his wife and our mother.

Many of you will have read Dad's books which tell the full story and those of you living locally in Ilford will have seen the tribute in the Ilford Recorder (if not please search in Google for ‘Ron Jeffries Tribute in Ilford Recorder’)

We hope you will be able to join us virtually on the 5th of February and thank you for anything you feel able to give in memory of Dad‘s life.

Thank you everyone for your support and literally hundreds of messages, emails and cards - many of which included memories of times with Dad. They have all been really appreciated. We have been able to share £3,500 between St Peter's and the Children's Society which has been marvellous. If anyone would like a copy of Dad's latest book ('A Slice of this and a bit of that') please just email us at jeffrieskids20@gmail.com and we will send you a copy. Graham, Heather and Richard All the best Graham, Heather and Richard

Ron was an inspiration ever since I joined the Cubs in 1960. He was later very kind to my mother "Doreen" who he affectionately called "Mrs Tinkle" in the Aldborough Players shows. Always remembered

Ron, a truly good friend and neighbour for nearly 60 years. His wonderful sense of humour, his tales and stories of past and present events and his commitment to making our community a better place.
