Story

Hi All,

As some of you probably already know, next week I am going to ride the so-called Coast to Coast (C2C) a 220km route which runs from the scenic coast of northwest England through the Northern Lakes and over the Pennines before reaching its conclusion on the shores of the North Sea (Roker Marina in Sunderland). The ride will begin on Wednesday the 3rd of July in Workington and it will finish, if everything goes as expected, on the 6th of July.

Bearing in mind this cycle route, I had thought that it might be a great opportunity to help those in need. Last year, in San Roque (Cádiz) I had the chance to visit a reception centre for migrants who cross from Africa through the Strait of Gibraltar every day by inflatable boats.

I was particularly touched not only by the tremendous work that Spanish Red Cross volunteers do every day but also by the real needs of these migrants.

Far from seeking a culprit of this tragedy, I honestly think that it is our duty as citizens to contribute to the betterment of society. Therefore, I would like to sell supportive kilometres for 3 pounds with a view to raise 588 pounds.

Red Cross in the area has already been told to this respect and they will be informed of the fundraiser through an official record which will be posted as soon as done.

Are you interested in taking part? If so, you can make a contribution via JustGiving which is not only a safe way to help but also a 0% platform fee. In case you don’t want to collaborate right now, I invite you to keep a close eye on this critical situation in the Strait and hopefully you fancy helping in the future.

Many thanks for reading and for your help,

Alfredo José Castro Jiménez
