Dance Horizons is an independent Creative Producer for Dance based in Edinburgh. Our mission is to provide opportunities for contemporary dance artists and companies to expand their artistic reach.

Innovations was first created in 2014 and continues to provide artists with new opportunities to present their work to audiences. The last 5 years has seen significant growth and expansion for the platform. In 2019 Dance Horizons presented the second edition of its Edinburgh Fringe Innovations Platform which engaged artists from across the UK, France and Spain as part of an international line up of works.

To continue its work to present a 2020 platform, Dance Horizons is constantly reaching out for support. Whilst it remains autonomous in the current artistic climate, Innovations requires financial support to sustain its Fringe programme.

Why we do a Fringe platform?

The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is the largest cultural arts festival on the planet, challenging the boundaries of the performing arts across a broad specrtum of practices and mediums. We pride ourselves on creating an opportunity for dance artists and companies at all stages in their career to bring their work to Edinburgh and present their artform on this trully international platform. Alongside the opportunity to perform, artists have an incredible opportunity of development and engage with other practitioners work in the vast programme of shows. Dance Horizons works with industry contacts, press and fringe partners to raise the exposure and profile for contemporary dance work. Our platform is programmed to appetise fringe audiences looking for something different, developing and potentally challenging.

So what does the money raised fund?

Through our crowdfunding efforts we aim to raise funds to support the overheads of hosting our Fringe platform. Year on year the costs increase to continue to deliver an outstanding quality showcase. 2020 will see our first 2-week edition of the platform as it returns to Greenside Venues for a third year!
