Story

Inspired Villages is an advocate independent living, with this being at the heart of their design and development of retirement villages.

There is sometimes a battle to live life on your own terms and this is why we are supporting the Alzheimer’s Dementia and Parkinson’s Research Department at Nottingham Trent University – a charity close to our hearts and one that actively works towards developing a pioneering solution to this health care crises.

We will also be donating to the RSPCA, who were the first to introduce a law to protect animals and work hard to ensure that all animals can live free from pain and suffering-raising standards of care, and awareness of issues, affecting animals today.

Alzheimer’s, Dementia and Parkinson’s research at Nottingham Trent University

Alzheimer’s, Dementia and Parkinson’s (ADP) are some of the biggest healthcare crises of our age. Cases are on the rise, even amongst younger people – current treatment options aim to slow down the symptoms, but sadly there is no cure.

The science behind ADP is straightforward but devastating: the human brain is composed of billions of connected nerve cells, and conditions like these appear with a progressive loss of physiological neuronal functions and communication, inevitably leading to neuronal cell death, and slowly diminishing the sufferer’s daily routines.

At Nottingham Trent University (NTU), we’re working hard to deliver a pioneering solution. Our approach to defeating ADP is innovative, collaborative, and globally focused. Working from state-of-the-art laboratories, our multidisciplinary team of experts from complementary fields are interrogating ADP with the combined power of their insights.

We are determined and passionate about finding a cure for ADP, but we urgently need additional funding to continue our research. With your support, we can fight back and bring about change in the prognosis of these destructive diseases.

On Sunday 17 June 2023, colleagues from Inspired Villages are competing in the Dragon Boat Race at Edgbaston Reservoir in Birmingham, to raise money for Alzheimer’s, Dementia, and Parkinson’s Research at Nottingham Trent University. We are passionate, both professionally and personally, about this cause and kind donations would be very gratefully received – please note that donations will be shared with the RSPCA and with a 30% of donations being payable to the Edgbaston Rotary Club for the purpose of their own charitable endeavours.
