I've raised £500 to support opportunities for young people interested in developing a career in STE(A)M sectors and to support 287 (Stenhouse) Squadron ATC

In early 2023, 287 (Stenhouse) Squadron suffered the tragic loss of Cadet Zac Khalifah.
Zac was an energetic young 14 year old who really wanted to get the most experience from life. This was evident through his membership of The Scouts and through his time at 287 Squadron as a Royal Air Force Air Cadet. He had a clear love for the outdoors and dreamed of becoming an Engineer.
His friends at 287 Squadron and the Air Cadet Family have fond memories of Zac and wish to ensure those memories stay as part of the squadron history to share experience and inspire others.
For this reason, on Saturday 31st August I will be walking from Edinburgh to Linlithgow along the Union Canal. Linlithgow is the place where Zac attended his last cadet event with us, as seen in the picture on this page. It also takes into consideration the canal path, where his memorial tree is situated near to, and his love to go walking and be outdoors.
The funds raised will be split equally between 2 causes.
The Engineering Development Trust - The trust offers young people active learning experiences in STE(A)M related careers, giving them the opportunity to gain knowledge and exposure that will help them make decisions about their future.
287 (Stenhouse) Squadron ATC - Zac was a valued member of the squadron where everyone was his friend. This included him being awarded the Best Cadet of intake 2202. He was an example to many and to mark his memory, the squadron wish to raise funds to purchase new squadron trophies, including a new Best Cadet Trophy named in honour of Zac to inspire the next generation of cadets.
Kind Regards,
Kerrie
