Story

Invisible Army started in Autumn 2019 aiming to represent the current landscape of unpaid care. Before Covid we visited 6 carers to collect focussed studies of them and their families. The body of work consists of documentary photography and long-form interviews. The studies are intimate, concentrated on the everyday lives of people who are caring for someone with an illness and/or disability on an emotional, social, and financial level. We have now collected 32 stories which will be exhibited at a week-long exhibition at The Vestibules in Bristol (see details below).

Thanks to Arts Council England we received funding to collect and exhibit 16 carers' stories however the interest in our project has been eye-opening. We have doubled the number of carers who have shared their every day lives with us. We want to ensure all of these carers stories are exhibited! This means we have a shortfall in the funding of £2,200, so to ensure each carer is heard we need your donations. Any extra donations will go towards our future projects.
