Story

My name is Ioan Llewellyn-Foster, I am 13 years old and live in Wrexham, North Wales. I am writing today to inform you that I have been very lucky to have been selected to represent Wales at the 24th World Scout Jamboree in 2019. We are raising money with a number of fundraising initiatives. Any support you can give would be very much appreciated

The 24th World Scout Jamboree will be held in West Virginia, USA, and will take place on 22nd July – 2nd August 2019 at The Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve. It’s to be hosted jointly between Boy Scouts of America, Scouts Canada and the Scout Association of Mexico.

The 24th World Scout Jamboree will feature the hallmarks of past world jamborees, such as the Global Development Village, the World Scout Centre, a special sustainability initiative, and the socialization elements that allow everyone to make life-long friends from around the world.

In addition the host site, the Summit Bechtel Reserve offers the most advanced adventure camping base for youth in the world. Participants might experience “wild and wonderful” adventures such as The Rocks, one of the largest man-made climbing facilities in the world, to zip lines that cover 5.45 miles/8.77 km, to The Park, one of the largest outdoor skateboard facilities in the world, or The Trax, one of the largest BMX bike facilities, and three man-made lakes and pools that offer a variety aquatic activities.

During this experience we will be having an educational visit to a major city, this will either be New York or Washington DC. We will also be having Hosted Hospitality or known as HoHo, we will be staying with a scout group and they will teach us about local traditions and show us local sights. Our HoHo could be somewhere in the USA or in Canada

The cost is £3,495 price includes fee to organisers, contingent kit, insurance, and travel to & from the event. This does not include the cost of prep events. If you are able to make a kind donation I would be more than happy to give a PowerPoint to show you what an adventure I get up too.
