Story

Hi,

This is Iona, aged 9, born with the life limiting condition Cystic Fibrosis, she was diagnosed aged 5 weeks.

Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic condition with affects the lungs and digestive system which unfortunately means she has a very limited life expectancy.

Iona is a cheeky, fun loving, sparky little girl who makes the most of life despite her physical limitations. Her days consist of hours of physiotherapy and medication to keep her well.

In June 2017 Iona's lung function dropped to its lowest at 51%. After some intensive treatment it was decided that an oscillation vest would help. Iona borrowed a vest from the Bristol Childrens' Hospital, there are only a few of these available, and after using the vest for a week Iona's lung function improved to 75%. The vest has now had to be returned to the hospital to help other poorly children.

With the support of family, friends and the amazing local community we have raised £11,000 from our previous Justgiving page and offline donations. This will buy Iona a vest of her own, which hopefully will reduce the risk of further damage to her lungs and prolong her life expectancy and quality of life, and secure her future use of the vest.

We, "Iona's Inspiration", which is made up of friends and family of Iona, would like to raise a further £5,000 to Bristol Children’s Hospital Physiotherapy department to help Iona and other CF children and their families.

Please, please help us reach our target by making a donation, however big or small, and keeping Iona smiling for longer. Thank you.
