Story
On 28th feb this year the unimangiable for a parent happened to us. The weather was crazy that day was sunny then snowing really heavy we tried to make the day bearable as we was saying goodbye to our beloved john who was laid to rest. Isaac had made it just that bit easier with his beaming smile and twinkly eyes Keeping us going throughout the day.
Finally 6pm came and me and tom put him in the car to go home when he completely stopped breathing. The ambulance blue lighted us to the childrens hospital where he spent hours in resus. I just remember feeling numb. A consultant had explainned Isaac would be going to the High Dependency Unit as he needed around the clock care. I wont share the worst pictures we have as they are not nice and very upsetting to see a baby like that but its just show us how far hes come. The next 2 days we got no sleep just constantly worrying about him staying alive and with us. My poor boy went through 100’s of needles and different breathing machines whilst in there which killed us but lead to him getting better no one wants to see thier 4week old baby so unwell like that. The nurses where amazing talked us through everything kept us fed and watered. If it wasnt for the impecable care they gabe my boy i dread to think the outcome. I was half dead and literally had washed in a sink. Ronald Mcdonald came in to see us and they had offered us a room at there hotel facing the hospital. We took turns to get 4hours here and there thats all we could get with him being that unwell. Not only did they give us a room and a shower they also let rhiannon stay which was amazing when you have 2 young kids and one is poorly who you have to be with you just feel like you have abandoned the other but Ronald Mcdonald gave us that bit of normality i was able to make her breakfast and bath her. Then take her to the many play areas they had where one day she played dress up with dad the next she was playing video games with me . They are a charity so we was able to stay there for free which we didnt we wanted to pay them but that still doesnt feel enough for what they did for us. If it wasnt for them we wouldnt of felt that tiny bit normal through Isaac having meningitis. I can never truly thank either of them for what they did but this will help so much.
