Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out for your support to help our daughter Isabelle who has a recently diagnosed knee condition that has severely limited her movement and ability to be active as a normal child should.
Isabelle has had a long history of knee discomfort and poor kneecap tracking that we were told she would grow out of. In November 2025 we received the diagnosis that Isabelle has a condition called Trochlear Dysplasia, which means the groove in her knee joint is abnormally shaped. This causes her kneecap track in a “J” shape and dislocate frequently, even during simple activities like walking or climbing the stairs.
Isabelle loves to play football as a goalkeeper where she represents her local team, Gotherington Jaguars at under 15 level where, as with walking, she plays with a constant fear of her knee dislocating at any moment and this has taken a huge toll on her independence and quality of life.
The good news is there is a surgical procedure that can correct this issue and give Isabelle the chance to move pain-free and without the worry of a dislocation at any moment. Surgery plus recovery time is 6-9 months.
Unfortunately, the cost of this surgery is significant which is why we’re asking for your help.
Finding an NHS consultant to complete the surgery has proved very difficult within the paediatric department, combined with long waiting lists this is not an option for us.
In August 2025, Isabelle suffered a severe dislocation in her right knee that bruised her bones and strained the ligaments further and left her unable to straighten her leg for 3 months. These are instances are becoming more frequent.
We have been able to find a private consultant that will complete the surgery but this is costly. The surgery requires her cartlidge to be removed, bones regrooved and the cartlidge replaced as well as ligament strengthening of the MPFL

Youtube video shows the knee cap with poor tracking in Isabelle's knee. This happens on every flexion and extension of her knee causing discomfort. If it goes slightly further than this it leads to partial or full dislocation.
