Story

Isabelle’s Fundraising Page 2020.

Isabelle Mason.

Isabelle is 9 years old and lives in Burntwood, Cannock. At the age of 4, in April 2015, Isabelle was diagnosed with the rare condition known as Rett Syndrome. Rett Syndrome is a genetic disorder that affects brain development and attacks the motor neurone system, causing children affected by it to become less able bodied and less able to communicate. It’s estimated to affect 1 in 12,000 girls born each year and is rarely seen in boys. After Isabelle's diagnosis, her mobility started to deteriorate and she has ongoing problems with her mobility, suffers from drug resistant epileptic seizures and spends a lot of time in and out of hospital which has a massive impact on her and her family. Belle is cared for mainly by her Mom and the strain of Belle’s diagnosis and the long term effects, have really taken it‘s toll. Isabelle has anything from 1 to 6 seizures a day, some big and some small, all of which she deals with like a boss!

The money raised this year through Lakis Greek Kitchen (please take a look on facebook for more details on their amazing work and how they’ve adapted this year to the coronavirus challenges) will go towards building Isabelle a summer house and helping to redevelop the family garden into a sensory space. Belle will be able to enjoy this with her sister and brother and properly house her therapy pool which is used as a therapeutic measure for her condition. Due to the ongoing challenges this year and the impact on LGK’s season 7’s fundraising capacity we have designed and set up this justgiving page to run alongside LGK’s campaign for Isabelle. This will allow us and others to fundraise in other ways and still be able to contribute to Isabelle's amazing cause.

Message from Panikos Panayiotou, the CEO OF Lakis Greek Kitchen.

We are delighted that we have found a way to continue our annual programme through the kind generosity of our sponsors Theos Food, who will be donating some of their profits from their online shop to these causes, and Street Kitchen Brothers who will be delivering the kleftiko across the city through their Greek food service. It is an honour to be part of Isabelle’s journey and be able to support Acorns who help so many children, particularly in these difficult and unstable times. We ask that everybody supports this programme. #helpushelpothers

Please also take a look at LGK’s facebook page for details of season 7 and how it works if you’d like some delicious, fresh and tasty Greek food delivered safely to your door as another way you can back this campaign. This currently doesn‘t exist in Birmingham. You won’t be disappointed!
