My name is Isatou Jallow a Gambian mother of one lovely girl whom I love so much. I work as a teacher but have been on leave due to my deteriorating condition. I have been diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease anemia. I have lived with this condition since birth and have been admitted for Vaso-Occlusive crisis on numerous occasions.

I am on regular Analgesics and folic acid daily to ease the pain I go through almost on a daily basis. At the moment, my Condition is deteriorating and my daily challenges include painful hips, inability to stand upright and am currently limps when walking. These to name a few are stopping me from doing most of my daily activities such as taking care of my young daughter, going to work and even dashing any dreams of furthering my Education.

A Pelvic x-ray has shown bilateral degenerative disorder of my hip joint. The right head of femur is almost wholey eroded while the left is moderate.

I am also diagnosed with Avascular Necrosis of the heads of femur as a complication of sickle cell disease.

Am currently on regular Analgesics, increased fluid intake and folic acid 5mg daily.

I wish to seek for overseas specialist review for possible management as my doctor recommended because my country currently does not have an Orthopedic Surgeon for hip replacement surgery and i am not financially capable of paying for the treatment at the moment.

This fundraising I hope if successful can help me get back to my feet and be more involved in my young girl's life and achieve my long time dream of furthering my education. She needs me 🙂. It will also make it possible for me to go back to work and resume my daily activities. I have been battling this my whole life and don't want to give up now.
