Story

Kendrick School are organising a 2 week-long volunteer expedition to Vietnam to aid local communities through transformational projects in many different areas. Fifty percent of the Vietnamese population still lives on less than £1.50 a day and many remain vulnerable to sliding back into poverty as a result of either economic shocks or natural disasters. Poverty in Vietnam is concentrated among ethnic minorities who live in remote mountainous areas. I have volunteered for this trip to help provide a better quality of life for these communities in the Mai Chau mountains and leave them with sustainable, long-term solutions to the problems they currently encounter.

For example, I will be building brick ovens, footpaths, constructing community housing from local materials; improving local healthcare and sanitation through better amenities and engaging with the children of the local communities and developing their basic English language skills.

With your help, I will be able to undertake this expedition and benefit these communities. It will be a fantastic experience for me also, and one that will undoubtedly prove life-changing -not only for me, but the locals in Vietnam too.
