Story

World Challenge is an organisation that works with schools to provide young children with the opportunity to visit foreign countries and participate in local volunteer work as well as providing the children with a significant personal challenge.

The 2 week trip is led by teachers and World Challenge leaders, but with responsibility passed to the children to organise almost everything from buying and cooking their own food to organizing their own local transport.

The most exciting part of the trip includes volunteer work in a local community where we support the local people by assisting in a project that is important to them. It could be anything from helping them harvest crops, to building classrooms, toilet blocks or other educational/infrastructure projects.

We also get to go on a 3 day jungle expedition and have some time to visit some of Cambodia's most famous landmarks like the Angkor Wat temple and Phnom Pehn.

I am really looking forward to it. I am also enjoying planning my fundraising, I plan to do things like; an 8k run in Stonor, Oxfordshire in October, bake and sell cookies and cakes, wash cars, pet sit, invite family round to cook them food, host BBQ's and do jobs around the house.

The biggest challenge for me will probably be the 3 day trek in the jungle because as some of you know I am not too good with insects (especially spiders). Also carrying around my hammock and luggage in the hot humid conditions will be a challenge.

I look forward to helping the community with all their needs and looking round the local market. It will be interesting to see what new foods there are to try as well.

Thank you in advance for any support you can give me.
