As many of you asked, I have set up this just giving page for those that would like to support us but cannot make it to our fun day on the 14th of July.

What we are doing, and Why!

AS many of you are aware my beautiful mum has been undergoing treatment for a advanced bladder cancer. To say her journey so far has been tough would be a complete understatement. The only real comfort she has received is from the staff at the Fortuneswell cancer unit at Dorchester hospital.

When my mum was told she was going to have to have chemotherapy she was very scared, not only because let's face it the word chemo carries around that big black cloud that rains down thoughts like sickness, hairless, pale, bedbound. but because 25 years ago mum had to spend the best part of A year having one of the most toxic chemo's there is, as well as having to travel to London for this! After a terrifying couple of years she pulled through and carried on to raise her children. Although she regained her health.. the trauma never left, so for my mum to here word 'chemotherapy' was terrifying!
So this is where Fortuneswell came in. From the moment she walked in she felt as ease. it was light, bright and all the staff and volunteers were amazing, she was even given a foot massage to help her relax. It was nothing like the London hospital she rembered and dreaded!
The only down fall is that there is no room for the patients family to come in to support them whilst having treatment. This would have made such a big difference for my mum as I'm sure it would for many other patients.

So that's what we're doing. We are working hard to raise as much money as we can, to support the current appeal to improve the hospitals chemotherapy suite, enabling family and friends to sit and support patients in one of the toughest and scariest times.
We are so glad to be able to help raise for this project as knowing how much it will help, it's amazing.
