I'm raising £20000 to The Italian Job X – A Decade of Dedication and Remembrance

We are Tracy Williamson, William Whiteside, Andy Williamson, Paul McCord, Maurice Whitla, Colin Warnock and Alan Black, a group of cyclists dedicated to raising money for local charities.
This years fundraising will be a journey of Legacy, Strength, Friendship, Loss, Determination and Remembrance.
In 2015, John McNally and a group of his closest friends set out on a cycling challenge in Lake Garda, Italy with one goal: to raise vital funds for The Children’s Cancer Unit and NI Cancer Fund for Children.
That ride sparked a movement which ten years later, has a determined group of cyclists are preparing to take on the toughest challenge yet. This fundraising adventure will be carried out in memory of John McNally, Brian Calvert, Shane McArdle, and Dave Berry who have since tragically passed away from cancer and heart-related illnesses.
John’s dedication to fundraising was unwavering, even as he fought his own battle with cancer. Sadly, he lost that battle in January 2017, but his spirit has lived on through the cycling events held in his name. Since his passing, an annual cycling event has taken place every year, raising over £40,000 for cancer charities, ensuring that his mission to help others continues.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of our fundraising journey, an emotional milestone that highlights not just the legacy left behind but the unwavering commitment to making a difference. Over the years, this initiative has raised substantial funds for Macmillan Cancer Support and Chest Heart & Stroke NI, two charities that have supported countless individuals and families facing serious health battles.
The 10th Year Challenge – A True Test of Endurance
The Italian Job X is far from a leisurely cycle through picturesque landscapes. This year’s challenge will push the cyclists to their limits as they take on a route that includes a number of official Giro d’Italia climbs—legendary ascents tackled by professional cyclists in one of the world’s toughest races. With steep gradients, relentless inclines, and high-altitude conditions, this will be a true test of endurance, strength, and resilience.
Many may see Lake Garda and think of a holiday, but this is far from a relaxing trip. The pain in their legs is nothing compared to the struggles of those battling illness, and that is the motivation that will drive them forward.
Fundraising Beyond the Bike
While the Italian Job X is the pinnacle of the challenge, fundraising will continue throughout the year with a range of events, including:
• Static cycle challenges in local shops, bringing the effort to the community.
• Brave fundraising stunts, including some of the cyclists stepping up for a charity wax!
• Pub quizzes
• Bucket collections at sporting events
• An epic Northern Ireland-wide cycle
Every Pedal Stroke Counts
Each cyclist is covering their own costs for the trip, meaning that every penny donated goes directly to the two charities. This is about more than just a ride, it’s about carrying on a legacy, remembering those we have lost, and ensuring that others receive the support they need.
Our goal is to raise over £10,000 for each charity, 10years - £10,000.
Please help us reach our goal by supporting this incredible challenge and help us make a real difference.
