Weʼve raised £1,560 to buy new Chromebooks for Port of Menteith Primary School
- Funded on Thursday, 6th June 2019

Story
I am going to be running the Stirling half marathon on the 28th April 2019, to raise money for Port of Menteith Primary School to buy some much needed IT equipment, in the form of Chromebooks. Behind me and the kids in the photo, here are two of just five computers the whole school has available, and some of the time, one or two of the computers will be out of action, very much limiting the opportunity the children have to use computers, learn how to use a keyboard and mouse, and gain basic IT literacy skills.
If you are like me, you don't let your child near your laptop for fear of peanut butter and jam sticking the keys together, or worse, so schools are often the only place the child has access to messing about on a desktop.
Port of Menteith Primary is a wonderful school - the oldest in Stirlingshire, dating back to 1697, and overlooking the fabled Lake of Menteith. It is a rural school with a low roll number (sub 30 currently, and dropping as of August when P7 leave for high school).
I'd like every child in the school to have access to a shared Chromebook - that's my ideal, but more realistically, I'd like to be able to fund 5, doubling the tally of computers in the school.
Thanks for reading, thanks for thinking about donating, and if you do donate, THANK YOU FROM ALL THE CHILDREN AT PORT OF MENTEITH PRIMARY SCHOOL!

5 years agoI went along to the Wallace Monument today to do a photo shoot for the Stirling Observer and Central FM who were interested in a few of us who are running to raise money for our community. I met two runners for Strathcarron Hospice, and the Minister of Raploch Church -running for a new Raploch Scout group and for whom this Sunday's marathon will be his 31st!! Everyone running has an amazing story, whether it is from training or fundraising, and meeting these guys has made me really excited for Sunday :-)

5 years agoWith less than two weeks to go until the big day, my trainer James took me on a 6.5m loop between Kippen and Gargunnuck which involved 630 feet of elevation and lots of coo-ing at the newborn lambs. A nice dry day for a run and the scent of spring in the air. Pretty perfect really :-)

5 years agoWith only 3 weeks to go, and some more gray hairs on my head , I managed 8.5 miles around Loch Ard this morning which was a boost as the longest distance I'd run over the past 10 days has been 5 miles. My knee continues to play up though and from the 6th mile it was a bit nippy. I'll try not to worry about how I'm going to manage another 5 miles on top of this in just 3 weeks time...!! Thanks to all my kind and generous sponsors and if you would like to sponsor me, please go ahead! I really want to hit the £1000 mark :-)
