Story

Wondering why five unfit lads all with the same haircut are willingly going to put their bodies through 10 kilometers of absolute torture? Well, theres a pretty good reason...

In July of last year, our best friend Dave was given the most horrific news that he had developed terminal cancer and was placed on palliative (end of life) chemotherapy.

Heartbroken and devastated, we all prepared for the worst and expected to say our last goodbyes... Thankfully, Dave is one of the toughest people we know and is still with us fighting against this horrible disease.

Up until this point, chemotherapy has managed to stabilise his cancer and stop it from growing. Sadly this won’t last forever. After hundreds of phone calls, meetings and many hours of research, Dave has finally managed to find private drug and surgery options which could be instrumental in prolonging his life – unfortunately they cost money...

One treatment in particular that he is exploring is a drug called Avastin, which has been proven to help patients like Dave and it could be a game changer. (Find out more about the drug Avastin here - https://www.drugs.com/avastin.html )

Because Avastin isn’t NHS funded, it’s expected that treatment will cost in the region of £4,000 a month... which is why on Saturday 28th October Ashley, Adam, Craig, Josh and Sam will take on the Men’s Health Survival of The Fittest Challenge, to raise funds for our best friend. See link: http://ratrace.com/mhsurvival2017/

Not only are we raising money to help Dave personally but also to help support the charity hospital that looks after him (Weston Park Sheffield) and other young people around Sheffield – a city close to all of our hearts and a place we hold many great memories together.

Please give whatever you can – all donations could make a massive difference.

Thank you
