Story

The reason why is because

Recently Bingley and surrounding villages were left in shock following Sam sadly taking his own life at only 20 years old, this has left a lot of our future generation in shock along with local residents who knew how vibrant and friendly Sam was.

I too have a history with mental health (more recently due to grieving) luckily I was strong enough to seek support from outsourced organisations away from Bingley, but there were times I craved longingly to have a group I could attend with no pressure to be able to release what was going on inside my head, hence why I want to raise money to support local residents and ensure peer groups for both men and women are available continuously in Bingley.

#itsworthtalkingabout is a local mental health organisation who would like to reach out to men and women to offer help and support, who are facing mental health challenges silently on their own, young or old, rich or poor.

Did you know

Approximately 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health challenges each year

3/4’s of mental health challenges have so far only been established by the age of 24

Women are more likely to be affected than men

There are around 6000 suicides in the UK each year and its the biggest killer for men up to the age of 49

Challenge Done

The following route of 127 miles is what I will be walking

Tuesday 1st September

Liverpool - Burscough

Wednesday 2nd September

Burscough - Houghton

Thursday 3rd September

Houghton -Nelson

Friday 4th September

Gargrave - Bingley

Saturday 5th September

Bingley -Leeds (Granary Wharf)

New Edit - Monday 6th September

Nelson - Gargrave

The above had to be done, as you will see from my Facebook video's I had to pull out on Thursday due to lack of daylight hours and an injured shoulder, all in all I stepped on every part of the canal paths, with a little diversion on occasion, meaning I ended up walking 134.72 miles in total
