Story
Piotr is 7 years old boy. He was diagnosed with type 1 diabeties in February 2014, this came as a massive shock to us and we had to quickly come to terms with a life long illness. Piotr had to coped with everything that is thrown at his. Daily injections, blood test, hypos, hipers. Now he wear an insulin pump to give him the insulin. The insulin is given to his through a pod that has to be change every 3 days. We checked his Blood levels via finger pricking so his fingers get very, very sore. We test anywhere 10-20 times a day, even more when he is low or high.
A Dexcom 5 will give him the freedom to play and sleep, without these constants checks it. The Dexcom has an alarm if there is any problems and it will be connect to the phone so we can check without bothering his fun. We currently test his blood glucose through the night but with Dexcom G5 CGM we won't need to get up and test his blood levels as much through the night due to Dexcom alarms. This will make so much difference to Piotr and me (his mum) as I won't be constantly tired!
Dexcom G5 CGM prices is;
1 year supply of sensor £2665
1 yaer supply of transmiter £800
Receiver £275
Yearly total is £3740
