Story
This fundraiser is to raise money for the launch of a new charity, "Izzy's Impact: Melanoma Awareness and Prevention". This charity is very close to all our hearts as it has been setup in memory of our beautiful friend Izzy, who tragically passed away 2 years ago after losing her battle with Melanoma Skin Cancer.
The challenge we're completing is an 1100km cycle starting in Le Plagne, France, the location of our final year university ski trip we visited with Izzy and finishing in Bournemouth, where we all attended university. It's no small task and training is now heavily underway with none of us having any previous road cycling experience.
Our team consists of three cyclists: Sam Pollard-Jones, Stefan Wasmuht and Bobby Jones, as well as a further team of 8 who will join us in a support vehicle at different points throughout the challenge ensuring we have the necessary supplies.
Izzy's Impact is a charity that's aiming to raise awareness of Melanoma across the UK and actively support its prevention through education, advocacy and community engagement whilst offering support to individuals, families, and communities affected by Melanoma.
There are approximately 17,500 new cases of Melanoma diagnosed in the UK each year, making it the 5th most common cancer. Despite this, there are very few charities of which Melanoma is the sole focus, and Izzy's Impact have plans to make a huge difference in ensuring fewer people have to suffer the grief caused by this horrible disease.
Any donations will be massively appreciated by the team taking on the challenge, those launching Izzy's Impact and Izzy's family and loved ones.
All proceeds raised will go to Izzy's Impact: Melanoma Awareness and Prevention.
