    Story

    Can you please help?

Lottie is a wonderful, happy, very cheeky little girl who lives in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham with her brother, sister, mum and dad (Elliott, Millie, Vanessa and Ivor). She was born with an extremely rare chromosome abnormality: De novo deletion at 16q12.1 to q13, only 12 known in the world; and undetected during pregnancy. As her condition is so rare no one knew when she was born how it would impact on her life. Over the last 11 years her parents have worked tirelessly in supporting her medical /social needs and attending to the many medical appointments, therapies and surgeries needed to ensure Lottie is kept as healthy as possible.

Unfortunately, along with other difficulties, a major heart abnormality was found that could not be repaired, but with a number of surgeries (the first at 3 weeks old) could help Lottie have a limited life expectancy. Her mum and dad became determined to give her the best quality of life they could, to reach her full potential and live to the full, which they have done and continue to do so. Over time there have been many struggles due to poor health and huge delays in reaching her physical/mental milestones, but with determination and help she eventually sat up by herself at 4 years old and took her first wobbly steps at 8 years old. She goes to a local Special Needs School and enjoys every minute of her day.

Unexpectedly, Lottie's heart went into failure meaning no heart operations could help her and her life expectancy diminished from years to the unknown. As her heart tires she needs more medical support and equipment to help her. Lottie is now running out of time. Lottie's epilepsy has developed into life threatening seizures in which she stops breathing in her sleep and needs CPR. As we write this, they are yet to be controlled and are happening every week. Lottie needs 24hr care and emergency.

Please help improve Lottie's quality of life by generously donating. Thank you.
