Story
Hello☺ I've had my car 3 years on a hire purchase scheme. I have managed to extend that until December 17th, but then it has to go back to Mercedes, unless I can pay them the remaining amount to own my car outright.
So what you say! well my car has been my lifeline to independence, to improved mental health (I suffer from recurrent depressive /anxiety disorder & a mixed personality disorder) and to becoming mobile (I have Rheumatoid Arthritis in my left foot, hands & wrists & Osteo Arthritis in both knees).
I can only drive a small automatic car because of my disabilities. My car has helped my confidence because I can get to places easily & not struggle on the bus or other public transport.
In February 2017 I will have a place at The Brenchley Centre, Maidstone, Kent for Personality Disorder. This lasts for a year & means going there for 3 days each week for community therapy. Even though I'm scared at starting here, I am hoping for good things to aid my MPD, but the thought of getting a bus, 2 trains & then walking 15 mins from the station to the centre fills me with dread & an awful lot of anxiety. By car it would take 25 mins & I could park only 2 minutes away from the centre. I wouldn't have the anxiety of travelling.
Since May the arthritis in my knees has got worse. It's very painful & I find it hard to walk. Even though I want to, I am unable to work. I do get a bit of DLA as well as ESA but havn't got a blue badge & am not eligible for the Motability Scheme.
I dont have any savings, my DLA pays partly for my car, my ESA for bills & food.
I fear not having my car will make me housebound, make it harder to go 3x per week to Maidstone & my mental health will suffer.
I've never done anything like this before, let alone ask people for money, I am a giver not a taker, but I am desperate. I have 1 month to raise £5,500. I'm hoping whoever reads this will help me raise it. However little you can give, I thank you so very much. Thank you xx
