    Story

I'm jack and I'm a 20 year old with Cerebral Palsy.

I was diagnosed at a very young age and I've always had my disability to live with. It's hard having a disability, you sometimes sit wishing you could be as good as everyone else, wishing you could not have all the injuries and wishing you could just win for once. I really struggle with my confidence in sport as I feel like I'll never be as good as I want to be.

I started running at the age of 11 because I wanted to commit myself to get involved with sport. I ran for Mansfield harriers until I was 16 achieving various county champion medals and winning many different sprint/long distance races. Running made me feel like I could achieve and made me cope with the physical effects of my disability so much better.

I started training for my first marathon 3 years ago, I wanted to put my passion for running and determination together to raise money for fantastic charity's who can really make a difference from the fundraising. I completed my first marathon last year in Nottingham, It was a real test mentally! And I'm proud to say I didn't give up when times got tough!

I know it will take my upmost commitment but now I want to run for the fantastic charity CP teens! A fantastic charity set up to help individuals with Cerebral Palsy.

CP Teens UK is a registered charity in England & Wales (1172105) that helps children & young people with Cerebral Palsy & physical disabilities, and their families. It was set up in 2013 by Ellie Simpson, who has Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy. Ellie found that she was becoming increasingly socially isolated by so-called ‘peers’ as a result of having a disability and not being able to physically keep up and fend for herself. She wanted to see if she could reach out and help others in her position and this was when CP Teens UK was born. Since 2013, CP Teens UK has grown and strived supporting hundreds of children & young people to feel happy and supported with living with CP.
