I've raised £1500 to support Rooted; a project combining nature & nurture to achieve lasting change for young women experiencing challenges with mental health.

Beth & Jenny set up Rooted in 2017 to support and equip young women who are facing challenges around mental health, self-esteem and relationships. Their project is based on the deep belief that every girl is unique and that the powerful therapeutic benefits of nature enables them to thrive. By focusing on play, reflective practices and tool-based learning the programme has shown its ability to reduce negative emotional experiences of the girls they work with. Despite its success, funding is not guaranteed.
Those who know me will be aware of my unrelenting passion for nature and the outdoors. They may be less aware of my personal challenges with mental health, which is so often the case with these things. This, coupled with the fact I now have my own young daughter, drew a connection between my own values and that of Rooted. Thus, by running a self-sufficient 150 miles across the Arctic circle I hope to support Beth & Jenny so that more young women have the opportunity to harness a closer connection with nature and improve their own mental wellbeing.
