Weʼre raising £6,500 to help raise vital funds support to Jack Fenton and his family during his treatment of relapsed Leukaemia.

What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

Many of you might remember Jack’s Just Giving page about a year ago to help raise funds to help him practically through his treatment of Leukaemia. Despite Jack being a trooper with the treatment, side-effects and disruption to his and his family’s life. The leukaemia has returned, just before his 18th birthday.

Your help is needed again. He is back to attending Queens Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham regularly and he is going to need a stem cell transplant.

For those of you who don’t know Jacks journey with this cruel disease, here it is in a nutshell.

Jack is a kind, caring young man. He was doing great in Year 12 and looking forward to his summer holiday where he was going to Ghana to volunteer in a school. For his 17th birthday he ironically asked for donations to Cancer research and Teenage Cancer Trust.

He has fantastic friends and family, including his slightly crazy Mum, Katie who has a heart of pure, glittery gold.

But, just days after his 17th birthday and following his first driving lesson he was diagnosed with leukaemia.

He was treated at Queens Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham and endured the horrible side-effects of chemotherapy. He made many sacrifices to battle the disease, not going out, seeing friends and generally putting life on hold. His mum had just moved into a new house with her partner Neil. They too, were looking forward to make their new house into a home with Jack and Neil’s children. To ensure that Jacks treatment was not hindered by any infections, Neil offered to move out, putting them all into a lock-down situation, well before we even knew what the phrase really entailed.

After many months Jack was thought to be in remission. Jack was making plans for a ‘lock down’ 18th birthday. Katie and Neil looking forward to Covid restrictions being lifted so at last Neil and his children could return and they could all start living life as a family again.

However a couple of days beforehand Jack was told the Leukaemia had returned. Its not fair is it?

How can you help?

1. Register yourself to be a stem cell donor. Its similar to giving blood. See the links below.

2. Donate to this just giving page with a supportive comment. Every single £ helps.

3. Share this crowdfunding page far and wide!

Jack travelling to and from Birmingham Queens Elizabeth Hospital. This is a an 80 mile round trip, imagine the fuel bill!

A treat for Jack at the end of the treatment, something for him to look forward too. Not sure what this is, but I’m sure him and his mum will have great fun planning what he can get/do.

So tonight we mark 8 nights at home. The longest stint at home since Christmas! Jack’s been quite perky and eating more🙌🏼 Steroids are the magic potion at the moment but his team want to reduce them rapidly! His consultant called yesterday to say his bloods were showing high (CRP) infection levels. He arranged to send some anti fungal meds over yesterday’s afto. Hopefully this will protect him from this fungal issue on his lungs becoming and a problem again. We literally worship the thermometer in this house!

Neil picked Jack and I up this afternoon! It’s so nice to be home ❤️ It felt right to bring him home today too, as opposed to last Friday when I collected him! He was so frail and most worryingly his skin and eyes were yellow... He’s feeling and looking much better. The feeding tubes in place and we’re gradually increasing his intake day by day. The other issues are being monitored and we’ll be going over next week for him to have treatment as an outpatient

28th Feb Dinners served! I’m so happy Jack was able to tolerate having the feeding tube fitted. It wasn’t at all comfortable to begin with, but it’s been in 24 hours now and he’s finding it more than manageable. This is the first bottle of goodness that will run for the next 10 hours. He can eat along side it so he can still have what he fancies, but this will ensure he’s getting everything he needs for the days he doesn’t fancy anything!
