Story

I'd always been political activist, always been an anti-racist, an anti-apartheid campaigner, an anti-Zionist but in October 2016 after I was removed as vice Chair of Momentum and suspended from the Labour Party my politics went into another zone. Even though I am Jewish as well as black, and my partner is Jewish, it was the second time in a year I had been suspended, each time for anti-Semitism and ‘bringing the Party into disrepute’. Seemed like if you were anti-Zionist, it was ok to be persecuted. Something was wrong - not just in politics. But that's only half the story.

There followed a deluge - threats, abuse, smears and suggestions - I should be burned, sent to a Muslim rape gang, lynched - it was a deluge! The threats kept coming. That might have been the end of the story but I knew about political lynchings, I knew something about witch-hunts. As a child, I’d heard my mother talk of what happened to her and my father during the struggle for black Civil Rights in America. I’d heard of the persecution of the left during McCarthyism and I was sure – this was not the time for silence, this was a time to speak out so that's what I did.

I had already been busy as a public speaker and activist, that’s when I got the idea – if I was censored by the media, I’d have to take my story direct to the people. I developed a one woman show The Lynching, it was supposed to end with a performance at the the 2017 Labour Party conference but it got much bigger.... much bigger. If you want to find out more go to jackie walker.org

I now travel EVERYWHERE, across the UK and further afield, most recently to Berlin and Prague, performing The Lynching, taking part in debates, conferences, linking up with activist. I work with groups on the left, pro Palestinian campaigns, anti-fascist groups, Jewish anti-zionists but I've hit a problem.

I'm overwhelmed by my own success need to get some HELP. I don't want to exploit anyone so I'm looking to raise enough money to buy 10 hrs of support every week for a year. If you think what I do is important and you want to see it getting to even more places, please give what you can.
