Story

Thank you for visiting our page this was how we got on.

In 24 hours our team of 18 people stepped, cycled and ran non-stop a simulated route across Nepal and Everest. This resulted in 25 cycle trips of 65Km from Lukla Airport to Everest Base Camp totalling 1634 Km. Then a truly spectacular vertical climb of 591,711 metres which equates to ascending Mount Everest 67 times.

A tremendous effort from everyone participating in the teams, the guest contributors, the admin staff and everyone of the spectators who came to show their support on the day, and mostly to all those who donated, thank-you everyone.

SSgt Paul Mitchell delighted to hear his last hour on the stair-master has come to an end. Well done.

Some of the team really enjoying a good stretch off following the conclusion of their mammoth endurance activity. Well done everybody.

We have set ourselves a 24 hour Mount Everest ascent challenge. The challenge will consist of running 1km laps of camp and stepping the vertical height 8848m (8.85Km) on the stairmaster, as many times as possible in the 24hr period. At the same time, we will be cycling the 65km route from Lukla to Everest Base Camp as many times as possible, with the total distance calculated at the end of the 24 hour period . The challenge will take place on Wednesday 28th October 2020, with a target of raising over £3,000, to be split between both of these wonderful charities, The Gurkha Welfare Trust and the The REME Charity, as stated below they help support both serving and veterans from both the Gurkha and REME cap-badges.

The Gurkha Welfare Trust provides financial, medical and development aid to Gurkha veterans, their families and communities. We enable Gurkha veterans, their families and their wider communities to live their lives with dignity in Nepal. Gurkha are traditionally recruited from the hill people of Nepal, with roots right back to an 8th century Hindu warrior.

The REME Charity provides benevolence, welfare, and general support to serving and retired members of the Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers with the broad aim of enhancing esprit de corps and thereby improving the efficiency of the armed forces of the Crown.

Please feel free to donate as little or as much as you like so we can all support the charities in question.
