Story
Hi
Thanks for visiting my Just Giving page.
I'm Jack, I'm 13 and I live in Bishop Auckland, County Durham, UK.
I have been in the Scouting movement since I was 5, starting in Beavers, then in to Cubs and now the Scouts. I am very proud to be a Scout and it has taught me many skills that I will use throughout my life. I achieved the Chief Scout Bronze Award in Beavers and the Chief Scout Silver Award in Cubs, both of which are the highest awards you can achieve in each group.
My little brother Alfie has followed in my footsteps through Beavers and Cubs and has just joined our Scout troop. My little Sister Isobel has just started her Scouting journey in Beavers. My Dad was a Cub and Scout with the same troop when he was younger as well!
Every 4 years there is a World Scout Jamboree (WSJ) and all Scouts can apply to attend. The WSJ is a coming together of 50,000 Scouts from all over the world and, because it is only on every 4 years, you only get one chance to go the WSJ! I applied last year and went through the selection process, and luckily I have been selected as one of the Scouts to represent the Durham unit.
The next WSJ is at Summit Bechtel Reserve, West Virginia in July 2019. The total cost for the 3 week trip is £3,600 and while my family is helping with funding as much as they can, I still need more help to reach my total.
I am doing anything and everything I can to raise funds - bag packing at my local supermarkets, sponsored events like abseiling off the transporter bridge in Middlesbrough, delivering leaflets for local businesses, etc.
If there's any jobs that I could do for you - garden clearances, helping out, anything at all, in exchange for a small donation it would be greatly appreciated.
In fact i would really appreciate any donation - big or small - to help me achieve my target.
Thanks for reading and I'll be back after the WSJ to tell you all about my life changing experience!
