Story

Hello, my name is Jacob Hurst and I am currently in year 11 studying for my GCSEs at Blessed Robert Sutton Catholic secondary school. I intend to continue studying there at their sixth form in the future. As I am a student of the school, I have been invited to go on a once in a lifetime camping trip to Peru in the summer of 2019 for 4 weeks. Whilst in Peru, myself and my campmates will be doing a variety of activities to improve the quality of life for local Peruvians such as:

-building greenhouses so that children can grow plants and learn about nutrition

-building toilets in homes to improve health and hygiene problems

-building kitchens and dining rooms in nearby schools which provides jobs and food for children

-digging irrigation channels so that water from nearby mountains can consistently flow to farms and houses which provides locals with a more reliable water source.

However, to go to Peru and do all of this, I am required to raise £4350 which contributes towards flights, food and drink for 4 weeks, the materials needed to complete the acts listed above and more. To raise this money, I will be participating in many events such as: mud runs, treks up mountains such as Snowdon, cake sales and more.

All this work is in connection with the registered charity ‘Camps International’ who work across 4 different continents to make poorer areas of the world more stable and to increase the quality of life. To make a difference in Peru, I would be incredibly grateful for any support that you can give me. Thank you so much for any help you are able to give, no matter how small.
